| 24.07.11 | Acts 15:11 - 15 and Luke 9: 51 - 62 | Lydia's Conversion in Philippi: We can remember the first for many things, i.e. the first man on the moon. Lydia is the first recorded conversion as a believer. From the readings there were five who actually got it wrong, firstly the Samaritans, then the disciples James and John and the three men who got their priorities wrong. Lydia put God first and last. She recognised that the Lord opened her heart. | Listen: mp3 (11MB - 17mins) | ||
| 17.07.11 | Acts 16: 6 - 10 and Luke 9: 18 - 27 | Paul's Vision of the Man in Macedonia | Listen: mp3 (18MB - 26mins) | ||
| 10.07.11 | Acts 15: 36 – 16:5 and Luke 10: 17 – 22 |
The Apostles and Team Work: Conflict is in our daily lives. Conflict is very deep and serious. Conflict is very hard to deal with.Conflict has been around since the beginning of time. Does God use conflict to do what he wants? The reading has conflict in it bringing Timothy to help Paul, after Paul rejects John. Throughout the bible there is conflict. Conflict even happened in heaven. From Luke, Jesus was there at the beginning..| Listen: mp3 (17MB - 27mins) |

| 26.06.11 | Isaiah 40: 1-11 - 15 and Luke 1: 57-66 & 1:80 | Answer to Prayer: Isaiah prophesied the coming of John the Baptist as one who would point the way to an even greater ‘coming’. God’s word today was reminding us, like John the Baptist, that when we turn to Christ it is not just about repentance but a complete turnaround in our hearts. This also should mean a complete turnaround in our way of thinking and how we can be effective witnesses for Christ in our world today. .| Listen: mp3 (12MB - 20mins) | ||
| 19.06.11 | Isaiah 40; 12 -17 & 27-31 Matthew 28: 16 - 20 | Trinity Sunday: When we hear claims about what people do we are sceptical but what are we when God talks to us? We all have fathers who have failed us sometime, however Father God is it a burden to and do we put our failings on God. God is so great, he measures everything in his hands. God developed our body but just think what that says about Him. God is always there, if we fail God never fails us. Think about the Trinity God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit is always there never leaving us .| Listen: mp3 (9MB - 24mins) | ||
| 12.06.11 | Acts 2: 1 - 21 John 20: 19 - 23 | Pentecost: Life begins before conception, before a baby’s birth preparations has been taking place long before it is born. Pentecost is not the birth of the church, what about what happened in the Old Testament was preparing the people for the coming of age of the church. When we are small we do not have the ability to understand most thing we need time to absorb the information as we grow up. It was the same in the Bible beginning with Abraham who heard God’s voice. Pentecost is coming of age. Fifty day earlier Jesus told the disciples to receive the Holy Spirit. | Listen: mp3 (26MB - 18mins) |

| 05.06.11 | Psalms 118:1-2 &19 to end | Paul and Barnabas: We are all affected by Palm Sunday, there are those who wanted to be there but there are others who hated it, it the same today. We need to make a decision, whether we love or hate Jesus. We must remember, everyday God paints a new picture, when the sun rises or sets, not one is the same. Are you aware God loves you? God has always been there to protect us. | Listen: mp3 (42MB - 1hr 13mins) | ||

| 24.05.11 | Tears of Mary: Speaking as Peter the story is told how they discovered the empty tomb and began to wonder if the prediction of Christ risen from the dead was true| Listen: mp3 (9MB - 13mins) | |||
| 15.05.11 | Acts 14:21-28 and John 15:18-27 | Return to Antioch in Syria: As Christians we are called to live our lives in a different way to the world but we can easily be seduced into an easy life to conform to the world. So does the world today need people who are different - people of integrity who keep their promises and demonstrate a different way (like Paul and Jesus) of being human? How can Christians live this different life? | Listen: mp3 (6MB - 9mins) | ||
| 22.04.11 | Psalms 118:1-2 &19 to end | Obedience of Jesus: When Jesus carried his cross he was not the person who walked around Israel, having been beaten and flogged. Jesus knew where he was going to the place where he died for us. God knows about all the things we do. Being nailed to the cross physically hurt Jesus but he did not cry out at all. Jesus died at Passover on a day like today very warm and sunny. It was out of love for us, that he was held on the cross to die. When on the cross he asked for forgiveness for all of us.| Listen: mp3 (38MB - 1hr) | ||
| Matthew 21:1-11 | ||||
| 20.04.11 | Faith and Denial of Peter: | Listen: mp3 | |||
| 22.04.11 | Denial by Judas Escariot: At meeting you expect to meet with like minded people, churches are no different. In the case of Judas, some-one had to betray Jesus to put him in the hands of the High Priests. They tried to bring down Jesus in many ways but it was Judas, but it could have been any of the twelve. Jesus knew it was Judas that who would betray Him.| Listen: mp3 | |||

| Matthew 21:1-11 | ||||
| 13.04.11 | Transformation of Paul: Paul was the most misunderstood apostle. He was a perfect person to follow and was a true Jew. Paul was taught by the best of the best. Jews who believe in Jesus are a complete Jew. Paul understood he needed Jesus to be complete. Those who don’t know Jesus are incomplete. Well trained people still need the Lord and without Christ are nothing. There are two churches – the visible church and the true church is the invisible church. This is people who have given their life to Jesus. Paul was a powerful witness for Jesus.| Listen: mp3 (38MB - 1hr) | |||
| 10.04.11 | Acts 14:1-7 | In Iconium: Following God is not easy or simple. Jesus had high and low days as we do today. The power of God’s word is so great.The Lord prepares our heart to hear his word. The question is – Have you heard God’s word? We move on when listening to the preached word and it is the preached word that the congregation will grow. We need to speak to others but we must wait for God to tell us when to speak and when to stop speaking. Not everyone loves the Lord, God moves us on in various ways- it all part of God’s master plan for each of us. | Listen: mp3 (16MB - 28mins) | ||
| John 11:45-57 | ||||
| 04.04.11 | 1 Kings 17 James 5 | Miracles of Elijah: Elijah was just like us, but Elijah was God’s brightest star in Israel’s darkest nights. Elijah challenged Ahab and are we prepared to tell some-one they are wrong. God provided for Elijah by getting ravens, to provide food and a stream of water to drink from. God will provide but do we have the patience to stay where God puts us? God sends Elijah to a widow and he goes without question. If we give to God first he will provide. We hit out at others before we ask the Lord to help us. The Lord hears our cries as the Lord heard Elijah’s cry. God puts people in places where he needs them even if it is very hard and difficult.| Listen: mp3 (42MB - 1hr 13mins) | ||
| 30.03.11 | Psalms 118:1-2 &19 to end | Faithfulness of David: We are all affected by Palm Sunday, there are those who wanted to be there but there are others who hated it, it the same today. We need to make a decision, whether we love or hate Jesus. We must remember, everyday God paints a new picture, when the sun rises or sets, not one is the same. Are you aware God loves you? God has always been there to protect us. | Listen: mp3 (35MB - 1hr) | ||
| Matthew 21:1-11 | ||||
| 27.03.11 | Act 13:32-52 | Psidian Antioch Part 2: A TV programme last week on “Secrets of the Bible” tried to shake Christianity to its foundations. The evidence use was flawed, the bible tells us differently. In the programme the presenter used a piece of literature was false and then started to use it. The clues are in today’s readings. We can accept it or not accept it. Jesus makes surprising statement for us.| Listen: mp3 (15MB - 21mins) | ||
| Matthew 10:26-42 | ||||
| 23.03.11 | Exodus | Difficulties Faced by Moses: Moses had a privilege upbringing, seen as a Egyptian by the Israelites, God continued to guide Moses, without Moses knowing what was happening. God can and does call who he wants. God has different ways of meeting with us. God was there in the burning bush to met Moses. God has a plan for the Israelites by sending Moses to Pharaoh. Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt but he did not have an easy time. When up the mountain, the Israelites built an idol, there was moaning and groaning but Moses dealt withal the problems| Listen: mp3 (44MB - 1hr 04mins) | ||
| 20.03.11 | Genesis 37 | Psidian Antioch Part 1: Just as God sent Paul and his friends to meet and talk with the people in the synagogue (not just a place of worship but also a meeting place) in Psidian Antioch, so too he wants us to go out and meet with people in familiar places in order to tell them about Jesus. Mark uses this passage of scripture to illustrate how we can engage with our family, friends and acquaintances to explain the Good News of our salvation through the death and resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. | Listen: mp3 (21MB - 31mins) | ||
| 16.03.11 | Psalms 118:1-2 &19 to end | Trials and Joys of Joseph: Jacob, Joseph’s father favoured him above his brothers. Joseph boasted to his brothers that they would bow down to him following a dream. As he was his father’s favourite he was given a fancy coat and Joseph pulled rank over his brothers. Jacob was sold by his brothers instead of killing him as they discussed. Joseph experienced highs and lows, in his life as God set these to teach Jacob. All this made Joseph wiser and was brought by God to meet the right people. Joseph’s made mistakes, he was in God’s hands but had to wait for God to do these things but Joseph tried to force the issue.| Listen: mp3 (31MB - 51mins) | ||
| Matthew 21:1-11 | ||||
| 13.03.11 | Acts 13:1-12 | Barnabas and Saul on Cyprus: Have we got our attitude right? Is all we want from life what we can get out of it? Even in Church do we get distracted from worshipping the Lord by focussing on tradition and our differences with others? We are challenged to think about whether we are doing things that push God on one side and urged us to act like Paul and Barnabas and have Jesus as our focus in everything we do. | Listen: mp3 (20MB - 30mins) | ||
| Matthew 12:22-37 | ||||
| 09.03.11 | Genesis 12 1-9 | Faith of Abraham: Abram was told by God to leave and he just went in faith. We know when we go out we get prepared before hand but not Abram. We expect God to give us the route, the time we shall arrive etc. How many are willing to just go with the journey of God? We all put up barriers and tell God what we want him to do and not allow to be dictated to, but God knows all about us. When we go with God it is fabulous. Do we limit God by what we ask for? The big question Is do we believe God talks to us?| Listen: mp3 (23MB - 33mins) | ||
| 06.03.11 | Genesis 2: 15 | Creation: God made everything but left creating Adam and Eve to last. Look at everything God has made, we are all different no-one is exactly the same.| Listen: mp3 (3.9MB - 4mins) | ||
| 27.02.11 | Acts 12: 1 -25 | Paul's Escape from Prison: Herod found an easy way of pleasing the Jewish Leaders, by executing the Apostle James and imprisoning Peter. The Christians had nothing, so could only pray. Angels came to Peter and took off the shackles, opened door and led him into the street. God answered the prayers of the helpless people. Why pray? Because we are helpless. It’s easy to forget without God we are helpless. Peter escaped because God answers prayers. We can speak to God and God speaks to us in many ways, through the bible, the Holy Spirit and when we are listening. | Listen: mp3 (11MB - 19mins) | ||
| Luke 4:14-30 | ||||
| 20.02.11 | Acts 11: 19 | The Church at Antioch: The reading teaches us that out of bad things comes something good. What Satan means for harm God returns to good. The reading also tells us that the message was for Jews, but the people had to learn things were changing. Other were to speak to Gentiles and others non believers.Do you know that God is there when we are down. Do you witness about God? Do you encourage others? We were enemies of God until we came to know him. The first time “Christians” was used was in Antioch. Jesus was a Jew but Christians were marked out as those who loved the Lord. God tells us what is going to happen.| Listen: mp3 (14.5MB - 30mins) |

| Matthew 10:32-42 | ||||
| 13.02.11 | Acts 11:1-18 | Peter Explains His Actions: We judge other persons on what they say to us. When it comes to listening God, we do the same thing. We assess what we think and not what God is saying. God speaks the truth into our hearts and it is not for us to judge. The question - is God right and have we heard correctly. This lies behind this mornings reading Are we listening. We need to check with God it is Him speaking to us, so check with God. | Listen: mp3 (18.5MB - 27mins) | ||
| Matthew 27:45-56 | ||||
| 06.02.11 | Psalm 66 | How to Witness to Friends: Before doing anything, PRAY, Trust God to give you the words. If you have prayed, believe me, He will. Never be afraid to say you are out of your depth. Honesty is always the best policy. Introduction ‘Come and See / Come and Hear’ (v. 5 & v. 16) and ‘Let me tell you what God has done’ Explaining who God is (vv 6-8) He is our Creator and Lord Tell them your story (briefly) by ‘Why do I believe in God’? (vv 9-12) and ‘What is my personal proof’? Explain God’s Love - God loves us because He sent Jesus (vv 18), we have sinned, God dies on our behalf, we become His children (vv 19-20) End with a challenge.| Listen: mp3 (13MB - 23mins) | ||
| 23.01.11 | Mark 7:24-30 | Peter's Vision: In planning a visit to Nottingham using the map a journey plan was made, everything worked out with no problems. The map was tossed on the back seat and not consulted. Our journey with Christ is a bit like that. Are we confident we know all about faith and toss God’s direction behind us? God is always revealing new directions to us every day. God’s plan has not changed for all of us. God surprises us with new beliefs but are we open enough for these surprises? | Listen: mp3 (13MB - 23mins) | ||
| Acts 10: 9-23 | ||||
| 09.01.11 | Matthew 9:18-26 | Aeneas and Dorcas: We accept the tides turn, the sun rises everyday and these are some of God's many miracles. There are two things that happening in the readings today. There are questions: do you believe these things happened, what has he done in your life. Do you believe in God, do you? Do you believe that miracles still happen today? | Listen: mp3 (14MB - 25mins) | ||
| 26.12.10 | Matthew 10:17-22 | Speaking the Truth: Stephen said you killed Jesus, but everyone did not want to hear. Even when Stephen was being stoned to death, he gave out forgiveness. There are four things we must do in telling the truth, stand up for Christ but we will be persecuted, If we don't face persecution are we really standing up for Jesus. We must pray for persecuted Christians everywhere to stand up for God and we won't be alone. | Listen: mp3 (19MB - 33mins) | ||
| 25.12.10 | Luke 2:1-14 | Focus on Jesus: The question is Jesus different to us. We are all born, starting school, then work looking after ourselves, so Why is Jesus different? Why make Jesus something He isn't. Jesus was fully human, must have cried needed his mother to care for him so was he the perfect child? As teenagers it is up to us to make decisions suddenly you are what you are- Jesus wrestled with growing up, Jesus understands our problems. God identifies with mankind perfectly. Christmas reminds us that Jesus is fully man and human in every way and God in every way. God's Kingdom will last for ever. | Listen: mp3 (9MB - 16mins) | ||
| 24.12.10 | No Reading | Carols by Candle Light: | Listen: mp3 (43MB - 1hr 16mins) | ||
| 24.12.10 | Luke 1:67-69 | Birth of First Child: Ian spoke about why people did not recognised him when walking around town after the birth of his first child. In the same way, no-one recognised Joseph and Mary with the birth of Jesus except the few people who were told about it. The build up was the miraculous conception of John the Baptist and then the birth of Jesus as it was foretold in the Old Testament. The perfect plan of God, God is in control. | Listen: mp3 (9.37MB - 16mins) | ||

| 19.12.10 | Matthew 1:18-end | Health and Safety: Religion is a set of beliefs put forward and people are expected to believe and hold onto. Religion is a set of beliefs and people are expected to do set things in a set order and a set way. Christianity is not a religion; Christianity is a relationship with God through Jesus. God has given us the right to become his children and God reached out to the world that we are able to become his child. | Listen: mp3 (18.4MB - 32mins) | ||
| 12.12.10 | No Reading | Christingle: The story of the birth of Jesus is told through the scriptures and acted out by the young church members. Mark goes on to tell more about the coming of Jesus. | Listen: mp3 (12MB - 14mins) | ||
| 12.12.10 | Matthew 11: 2-11 | Joy of the Redeemed: We must learn that God is in the business of regeneration and recreation. We destroy ourselves but our spirit remains in contact with God every day. As with the fires in Israel today, the fir trees burn but in the heat the cones open up and the seeds drop onto the floor ready to grow up again into trees. God is there with the ultimate renewal | Listen: mp3 (24MB - 27mins) | ||
| 05.12.10 | Matthew 28:16-20 | Waiting: The story of Advent is a story of promise, hope and love. We need to prepare ourselves so that we are ready and receptive when Christ comes in glory at the end of time. Great hope has already been fulfilled in the first coming of Jesus, born as a baby. The enormous love it shows highlights the supreme goodness and compassion of Jesus whose second coming we wait. | Listen: mp3 (22MB - 21mins) | ||
| 21.11.10 | John 16:15-33 | Paul's Non-Conversion: Mark describes that Saul/Paul was a Jew so he was not converted as we understand conversion, conversion means change.
