exploring faith at coley
Explore individual Faith Journey's from our church members. No one has all the answers when it comes to faith, but at Coley, we believe that we learn through asking those questions and no one minds a discussion on any faith-related subject. Nothing is a silly question and no question is too simple.
What we do believe with certainty is that Jesus died for us in order to make us children of God. We believe that the Holy Spirit has come into our lives as, what the Bible calls, a deposit guaranteeing our salvation, our relationship with God. Thus we can and do know God and enjoy our relationship with him.
If you would like to explore these beginnings for yourself then we will be able to help you. Sometimes we run courses for people that want to know more about being a believer. At other times, we do one to one sessions. It is very much up to you to let us know how we can help you the most. If you are already a believer, we have a series of house groups where you can discuss matters with others.
What about the really difficult questions, such as “Why does God allow suffering?” or “Does God cause suffering?” These questions stretch the minds of all of us, but we do not shy away from them. We do try to address these issues in our sermons during services and the opportunity to talk things through with Mark is always open to you – and, he is not afraid to say he does not know everything, because he admits that God is much bigger than us and some things we will never understand.
If you we were asked to draw up a list of what is important at Coley, learning about our faith would be in the top three. Hence, the sermons at Coley are regarded as very important and much is learnt there to stimulate us in our daily lives. You then have the opportunity to discuss those sermons with others and through that we can all grow together.
