Groups: Churches Together

Coley Parish works ecumenically with fellow Christians in the local community and one way is through Churches Together.  This group includes St Matthew’s in Lightcliffe, Christ Church in Hipperholme as well as St John the Baptist.  There is a committee which meets four times a year and includes the clergy from each church.  Officers are appointed from each church group on a rota basis.

We have several annual activities which include joint services, a prayer breakfast, a Good Friday walk of witness and frugal lunch, a women’s day of prayer, a  Lunch Club, working with Christians in Calderdale Schools (CICS).  We try to present the community with a list of all the Church services available in the area at both Christmas and Easter.

At the beginning of Advent this year we met together with the community to light the Christmas tree at Hipperholme crossroads. This gathering included carols and prayers for this Christian Festival.
